19 September 1992

31 years ago today since we opened our doors. We are the first North Eastern style Thai restaurant opened in London.

Over the years we have had ups and downs like most businesses do. We struggled through covid, but have managed to make it this far still.

We wouldn’t be where we are today without the vision, hard work and passion that our founder owners had all those years ago.

Mr and Mrs Puntar came to the U.K. over 40 years ago and enjoyed small house gatherings with friends and spreading joy through their specialised cooking. More and more of their friends requested they sell their food as many of them wanted to buy it to enjoy at home also.

They began their journey selling their food at festivals on food stalls and eventually started taking orders and building their own list of returning customers.

With their popularity and hard work, they soon realised their dreams could come true and they opened Esarn Kheaw to the public.

To this day, all our recipes are the same. They are still involved with the business with help from their adult children and we hope we can continue for many more years to come.

Thank you to all our wonderful customers old and new, without your custom, we wouldn’t be here. 🥂

Thank you to everyone who has come to visit us after we had to close unexpectedly earlier this week for two days.

We appreciate everyone’s patience and excitement to come back and join us.

We would also like to remind you all that we are a small family owned and run business. We are happy to take bookings for large groups (subject to availability), but please call us and let us know if your circumstances change and you can no longer attend, are running late or need to amend your party size, so we can offer your reserved seats to other customers accordingly.

After reserving a large amount of seats for a party on Thursday that did not turn up, call us to cancel or even leave the correct contact details, thankfully we were able to seat everyone else who had visited us that evening and didn’t turn anyone away. #greatfeeling
